Purpose. The Health Solutions New Mexico Act’s stated purpose is to achieve universal health coverage, contain health care costs and improve health care access and quality for New Mexicans. The act directs that health care and health coverage initiatives recognize the state’s diversity, be transparent and accountable, be financially viable, consider health care quality and outcomes, improve access to health care, consider the needs of low-income and high-risk individuals and families, and provide a choice of providers and treatment options.
